Unlike scarves, the tie is worn flat, and is unaffected by movement and shape.

 The focus is all on the colour and pattern of a narrow strip of cloth, worn close to the face, against a background of subdued dark wool or light coloured cotton.

This makes it an extra challenge but a rewarding one when one of my ties meets its right wearer,
